MONUMENTAL GATEWAY.

Monumental Gateway

Here’s an interesting little project we carried out a few years ago. We were nominated by Plymouth City Council to carry out the complete reconstruction of a Grade II listed monumental gateway at Lockyer’s Quay in Plymouth, Devon.

This link will take you back to our main website telling you what was involved. There you will also find a link to the original archeologists report detailing its full history.

OLD WATER MILL WHEEL.

Water Wheel

Over the past couple of years we have been working on a project down in Cornwall involving a water wheel which belongs to an old mill. Up until now we have constructed most of the stonework walls where, eventually, the water wheel will be placed. This cast iron water wheel is presently sat waiting for a complete restorataion where most, if not all, of the timber spokes and buckets will be replaced. We still have to finish off the stonework and this will be the next stage for us to carry out when the client is ready.

We’ll keep you updated on its development.

GARDEN WALL.

Garden Wall

This Grade II listed garden wall is situated in the grounds of a large private estate on the outskirts of Plymouth. It was probably constructed during the early 1740’s at the same time the main house itself was built. Our team of stonemasons have been on site for several weeks now carrying out much needed repairs to this 275 year old wall and they are about halfway through the work. Now that a scaffold has been erected it will enable us to carry out work to the higher levels of the wall as its height stands at just over 13 feet. A new slate coping will be going back on top of this 130 foot length of walling.

As the work continues, we’ll keep you updated.
