Torquay Post Office

Torquay Post Office ~ Fleet Street, Torquay, Devon.

Client : The Post Office.

The Post Office along Fleet street, Torquay opened in 1912. The building is constructed in both Portland and Bath stone. During the late 1970’s we were contracted to give the building a facelift.

The Post Office consists of two buildings. The original building is the three-storey elevation on the right that was built in 1912 by architect John Rutherford in the ‘Edwardian Baroque’ style. The curved left hand side with four storeys was added later on between 1933 and 1935.

The Post Office ceased operations here in 2009.  The buildings are grade II listed.
